Founder Member. BA and MA from the University of Tokyo; PhD from Tokyo Instute of Technology. Professor (Chiba Keizai University) and Professor Emeritus (University of Tsukuba); 1962-76, Hitachi Ltd.; 1976-99, University of Tsukuba; 1999-present, Chiba Keizai University. Member New York Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Tadashi Goino
Academic Member. Scientist, painter, writer, environmentalist and Humanitarian. 1974, founded the WIPPII General Research Institute for Environmental Concern; 1982, Home Village Movement for the vitalisation of the rural areas. Medical activity for cancer patients: established his own method, the Goino Procedure for cancer treatment. 1995, Co-founded a non-profit rescue organisation named 911 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Organised the Utagawa Society of Japan. 1994, promoted the Japonisme Renaissance Movement to further a better understanding of Japanese culture.

Naoyuki Hagiwara
Founder Member. Bachelor of Literature. Main fields: English linguistics, cross-cultural studies. Long service at Osaka Prefecture University where he served as Research Associate in English (1951-58), Lecturer (1958-66), Associate Professor of English (1966-73), Professor of English (1973-91), and Professor of Cross-Cultural Communication and Contrastive Linguistics (1982-91) and, on his retirement, was named Professor Emeritus (1991). From 1991 to 1999 he served as Professor of English Linguistics and Contrastive Linguistics at St. Andrew's University, Izumi, Osaka.

Koichi Honma
Founder Member. MD. Main fields: Pathology, pneumoconiosis. 1981, Instructor in Pathology leading to Assistant Professor (1984) and Associate Professor, Dokkyo University School of Medicine, Tochigi; Lectures on pneucomoniosis in Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany and Llandough Hospital, Penarth, UK (1992), Sao Paulo and Fortaleza, Brazil (1996); Seoul, Korea (1998); Duke University, Durham NC, USA; Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico City; University of Cape Town, Lung Institute, Cape Town, South Africa, among others.

Koyu Hon-Nami
Founder Member. BS, MS and DSc. Main fields: Environmental Microbiology and Biochemistry. 1972-86, Researcher, Mitsubishi-Kasei Institute of Life Sciences; 1983-85, Visiting Research Associate, University of Georgia, USA; 1986-89, Vice Senior Researcher, New Energy Development Organisation (NEDO) Alcohol Production Head Office; 1989-present, Senior Researcher, Tokyo Electric Power Co.; 2002-present, Visiting Research Associate, Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST) Yoshida ATP System Project.

Kazuyosi Ikeda
Founder Member. BSc, DSc. Main fields: Theoretical Physics. Assistant (1956-60) leading to Associate Professor (1960-65), Department of Physics, Kyushu University; Associate Professor (1960-65) leading to Full Professor (1968-89), Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Engineering, Osaka University; Professor, Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Osaka University (1989-92); Emeritus Professor, Osaka University, 1992. He has written over 100 scientific papers and monographs and numerous books on theoretical physics.

Shinji Itoh
Founder Member. MD, PhD. Main fields: Hypothalamo-hypophyseal function; Immuno-neuroendocrinology; Psysiology of cold-adaptiveness. Lecturer (1941-47) leading to Associate Professor (1947-57), Nagoya University School of Medicine; 1954-55, Research Fellow, School of Physicians and Surgeons, Colombia University; 1955-56, Research Fellow, Rockefeller Institute; 1957-75, Professor of Physiology, Hokkaido University School of Medicine; 1965-75, Joint Professor of Hokkaido University Low Temperature Institute; 1975-present, Emeritus Professor of Hokkaido University.

Toshiro Kobayashi
Founder Member. BEng and DEng. Main fields: Strength and fracture of materials, fracture mechanics, instrumental impact test, microstructure - mechanical properties relationship of materials. 1962, Fuji Electric Corporation Research and Development Ltd.; 1973, Associate Professor, Nagoya University; 1982-present, Professor, Toyohashi Universisty of Technology; 1999-present, Chairman, Department of Production Systems Engineering, Toyohashi University of Technology; 2002-present, Vice President of Toyohashi University of Technology. Author of more than 500 publications.

Akira Nagatomi
Founder Member. BSc, PhD. Main fields: Entomology. 1951-60, Instructor, Hyogo University of Agriculture; 1960-present, Instructor rising to Emeritus Professor, Kagoshima University. Member Entomological Society of Japan. He has published 143 papers primarily on the classification of primitive two winged flies (Diptera).

Keijiro Nakamura
Founder Member. Commercial Science studies, Fukuoka University. Main fields: Entrepreneur. President, Towa Fermentation Food Industry Company Limited; President, Orient Green Company Limited. Both companies are based in Tokyo.

Masaki Tan
Founder Member. MB, MD, LLB. Main fields: Surgeon. 1998-present, Vice-director, Wakayanagi NHI Hospital, Kurihara. 1973-85, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, Tohoku University, Sendai; 1985-88, Head, Department of Surgery, Ohfunato Prefectural Hospital, Japan; 1988-94, Head, Department of Surgery, Kitakami Prefectural Hospital; 1994-98, Head, Department of Surgery, Isawa Prefectural Hospital, Mizusawa. Ken-ichi Yoshihara
Founder Member. DSc. Main fields: Statistics. Long and distinguished academic career in research and teaching at Yokohama National University, with appointments as Lecturer (1963), Assistant Professor (1965), and Full Professor (1973), Professor Emeritus (1997). 1997, Professor at Soka University. He has published widely in both Japanese and English. Member New York Academy of Sciences, Barnoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, American Mathematical Society,
